Our Winter Training Sessions will continue late January - mid March as our older girls begin to prepare for their early Spring travel season, and some of our younger girls prepare for their modified seasons.
Our Winter Training Session II for U16 and U19 players will focus on strengthening our basic skills such as stick handling, and passing and receiving. They will also be introduced to higher level skilled shots and stick handling.
Our Winter Training Session for U12 and U14 players is open to anyone in Kindergarten - 8th grade, and is a great introduction to the game, or preparation for the upcoming modified season. Players will be broken into groups based on age and skill level, and will learn how to properly hold a stick, dribble the ball, pass and receive, shoot, and defensive concepts.
We do have a limited number of sticks available to use, so please note on your registration if you need one. They are first come, first serve, so please be sure to reserve one.
Goalkeepers are welcome at both levels, but must provide their own equipment.
This year we are looking to put together a U19, U16 and U14 team (or multiple teams at each age division depending on numbers). Tryouts for the U16 and U19 teams will be on February 4th. The tryout session for the U14 team will be held in April, once our area modified teams are in full swing, That date will be announced sometime in March. Our U16 and U19 teams will practice tentatively April - July (weekends during the school year, and weekdays over the summer).
This year, each player will pay a flat fee (U16 and U19 - $250, U14 - TBA) for the practice sessions, and then pay separately for each tournament they would like to attend. While many tournaments have not released their official dates yet, these are the tournaments we are tentatively planning on participating in depending on dates and interest.
Syracuse Spring Fling - April 30th at Syracuse University (U19, U16)
Four Goals Cup - July 29th and 30th at Brown University (U19)
Limelight - both tournaments (U19, U16, U14)
University of Rochester (U19, U16, U14)
Whalers in Buffalo (U19, U16, U14)
Mansfield University (U19, U16)
Utica College (U19, U16)
This is tentative and will be adjusted based on dates and number of participants. It is not guaranteed that we will be attending all of these tournaments. We are also always on the lookout for additional events based on interest and availability.
More information will be available regarding practice schedules and tournaments after the February 4th tryout, and as tournaments update and release their dates and fees for 2017.
Please note that all travel and accommodations for events will be the responsibility of the participant. Irondequoit Fury will not be responsible for or provide supervision of participants outside of the tournament and during periods of travel.
Congratulations to our U19 team for their play in the NITQ's at Lock Haven on January 15th! In our first Indoor Tournament ever, we found ourselves just one win shy of qualifying for the National Indoor Tournament! The girls played aggressive and unselfishly, with five different girls recording goals, and every goal scored with an assist. Our goalkeeper Marissa finished the day with 50 saves. We are so proud of the way the girls played and continued to improve with each game. This group continues getting better each day, and we are so excited!
Congrats to our girls in coming in 2nd place at the Syracuse Spring Fling on May 1st! The girls played up a division and lost only one game before heading to the Championship Game! We finished the day scoring 13 goals - Jenna (7), Haley (3), Claire C. (2), Amanda (1). And we also welcomed Michelle Cushman as our U19 Assistant Coach. Great way to start off our Spring/Summer Tournament Season!
